For those of you who are into game development, what are some projects that you're working on at the moment?

Working on Demonstar Secret Missions 2 for www.mking.com
(check out the dungeon on the mking site for pics)
This one is taking some time, theres a huge load of art and animation
in there.

Also doing a new version of Juno Nemesis, with updated art and new
gameplay elements, should be out in a few weeks time.

Awesome, thanks for the shots! I remember that you sent me a 'pre-alpha' version of Gus a while back Lerc. How is the project coming along? What part of it do you find that you spend the most time on?

I'm plugging away slowly. Gus is a pretty huge undertaking.

Up til now the work has been on the Resouce system, Graphics routines, Level drawing, Base level mechanics, Scripting engine, User Interface, Spectrum emulator, Individual entities(Monsters/bullets/explosions/player) and the level editor.

Each part took a reasonable amount of time but I suspect the actual creation of levels will be the biggest sinlge part. Hopefully I'll be getting someone to do that part for me, because I'll still be adding monsters which Individually isn't too much of a problem but combined a lot of monsters makes for a lot of work.

I'm hoping I'll actually be able to pay people to do work on Gus, I have had publishing offers for Drippy from a couple of publishers that look promising.

Gus is my Big big project. If I had have known how hard it would be trying to do it all on my own, I might have aimed a little lower (making just a simple jump on the blocks game). Ignorance makes us acheive.

Makes me appreciate Commander Keen 4 all the more. Although they did have about 5 people working on it. Gus has been just me (with bit's of art begged or bought form a few people, but only me working fulltime).

Oh man, don't I know it - you have my sympathies Lerc, but from what I've seen, I know Gus is going to turn out great...

I'm in that kind of funk myself, where the project (Cletus Clay) has been going for over a year and is still ages off being finished.

There's a few screenshots at www.squashysoftware.com - quite old ones, I really must post some of the new stuff soon.

Hi Anthony,

Its always good to hear from another NZ developer!

I see on your About page that you're using stop-motion with clay figures for your characters. That brilliant, I can't wait to see how the finished product looks! Its something I never really considered. Is it very difficult to make clay figures that look ok, or is it something that can be learnt reasonably quickly?
